Do you know how to use Pinterest to drive traffic to your business website? When you are using your Pinterest page to promote your business, you will want to focus your content on creating conversions. The first step to getting conversions is getting clicks. But how can you make sure that your content is optimized for getting more clicks? Simple. Follow these simple 5 Pinterest design steps to create pins that get conversions.

Use Height to Your Advantage

One of the most important parts of design is including negative space. That doesn’t mean that you need to have a bunch of white space with nothing in it. What it does mean is that you need to allow space to give the eyes a break. Pinterest suggests using a 2:3 ratio when creating pins in terms of design space.

Using tall pins that are between 1100 pixels to 2200 pixels tall will allow you to incorporate more dynamic designs, infographics, or content within the pin without confusing your target audience or crowding the space.

Keep in mind that anything above 2060 pixels tall will get cut up so make sure you accommodate that with your design. Anything beyond that can be useful for infographics that don’t need to be viewed all at once.

Choose the Optimal Background

You will want to consider your background options and match them to whatever messaging you have decided on for that specific pin. In general, there are four background options to choose from white, color, pattern, and image.

If you chose to use a pin image, remember to always be lawful when using images that you did not take yourself. There are plenty of stock image databases that provide free stock images.

On Pinterest, bright colors – particularly reds – are statistically more likely to gain clicks than alternative colors. In addition, you will want to avoid using faces in your pin images as Pinterest users tend not to respond as well to this type of advertising.

Use Branding in Your Pins

Don’t shy away from using branding in your pins – that is what you are here for. Make your business known in your pins by including your business name or logo at the bottom. You can also incorporate your business colors into the designs to bring a sense of unity across your pins.

Make Your Headlines Easy To Read

With so much content out there, you need to make sure that your message is clear and readable right from the get-go. You can still include extra flair with creative fonts but it’s important to make sure that the overall message is understood with a simple glance.

Include a Call to Action (and Make it Clear)

Finally, give your audience a reason to click on your pin by including a call to action. Make sure this call to action is clear! You may end up thinking it sounds cheesy but in the end, customers go with what they are comfortable with. Advertising something for free or telling your audience to “click here” is about communicating with your clientele.

With these simple Pinterest design steps, you are sure to increase your traffic and generate more conversions!
