The call to action is a small but important piece of any marketing strategy. In many ways, the best call to action phrases help generate leaves and revenue for your business. The prompt they provide is often the last push that your audience needs to take the next step in the conversion process. However, the choice of words in your call to action matters greatly. If you don’t hit the mark, you might fail to convert the reader.

Here, we’re going to look at some of the best call-to-action phrases you can use and why they work.

Buy Now

While it might seem overly simplistic, the “Buy Now” call to action ticks two important boxes that are the foundation of the best call to action phrases: it tells you what to do and when to do it. The additional sense of urgency that “Buy Now” creates is also beneficial.

Sign Up For Free

Again, this one has a clear active purpose – you are asking the user to sign up. In addition to this, you’re telling them immediately that this is a free offer. People are more likely to sign up for a mailing list, to get additional content, and more if they know right away that there aren’t hidden costs.

“Yes, I Want X/To X!”

Getting into the voice of the consumer is a good way to get in line with their motivations. By phrasing your call to action in the user’s voice creates a sense of connection and can easily help them decide to proceed with the action you’re asking for.

Start Now To X

Whatever X might be, this CTA builds up a sense of anticipation for it. It feels like the beginning of something exciting. The “X” should be something that speaks directly to the motivation or pain point that your product or service is aiming to address. This could look like “Start Now to Increase Your Followers Quickly”.

Claim Your X Today

This CTA is a direct offering of something that should offer some benefit, such as a trial, discount, or additional content. This call to action has language that tells the user that the offer you’re giving already belongs to them. They simply need to claim it.

Talk To An Expert Now

This CTA and all of its variations offer something that’s valuable: time with an expert or a professional who can offer direct help. Like all of the examples above, it also lays out a direct action with a specific intent.

Call to Action Tips and Tricks

It’s important to remember that there is more to a call to action than just putting the right words together. Call to action images make a huge impact on users and can bring more context to your call to action. Plus, when you’re using more image-based platforms, having call to action images is a great way to get your business shared around. For example, a call to action on Pinterest is going to be more shareable and offer more interaction for your users as an image than just text.

Don’t forget to use wording that is consistent with what you are offering or trying to get your users to do. If you want them to buy something, using “sign up” language isn’t going to work. Wording that evokes an emotion or excitement tends to work extremely well in the best call to action phrases. You should create a sense of urgency with your wording, while keeping the character count as low as possible.
