From Pretty Pins to Powerful Funnels
Most coaches and creatives start using Pinterest because it looks like a good idea. It’s visual, it’s inspiring, and it feels aligned with your brand. But if you’ve been posting pretty pins and still not seeing leads, traffic, or sales this episode of the Pintastic Pinterest Podcast is your turning point.
I brought on burnout recovery coach Amanda Nowak of Element Eight for a live Pinterest audit. Amanda has a stunning brand and strong content but like so many entrepreneurs, she wasn’t sure how to strategically use Pinterest to drive growth.
Together, we walked through simple but powerful shifts from updating her display name to turning her boards into keyword magnets that can help her (and you) start generating real results on Pinterest without burnout or content overwhelm.

Pinterest Is a Search Engine, Not a Mood Board
One of the first things we tackled was Amanda’s profile. While her business name is strong, it wasn’t telling Pinterest’s algorithm or users what she actually does. We updated her display name with keywords like “burnout coach for women entrepreneurs,” which makes her far more discoverable.
Pinterest users aren’t searching for clever brand names. They’re typing in exactly what they need help with. Your profile should reflect that.
Your Pinterest Strategy Needs Structure
I introduced Amanda to a new way of thinking about Pinterest content: like a library.
Your profile is the library building (what it’s all about)
Your boards are the sections (organized topics Pinterest understands)
Your pins are the books (specific solutions for what your audience is searching for)
This mindset shift made it easier for Amanda to rework her board titles and content so Pinterest knows exactly how to categorize and promote it.
Optimize for Search Using Incognito Windows
Most people guess at keywords but Pinterest literally shows you what people are searching for if you know where to look. I showed Amanda how to:
Use an incognito window to run unbiased searches
Explore related topics to name her boards strategically
Avoid vague terms like “burnout prevention” and use searchable phrases like “prevent burnout” or “overwhelmed entrepreneur”
Pinterest isn’t trying to trick you. It’s just waiting for you to label things clearly.
Turn Your Funnel Into Weekly Pins
Amanda had blog posts, freebies, and a coaching package but she wasn’t pinning them in a way that matched her funnel. I gave her a simple rhythm:
Awareness – Pin your blog post
Consideration – Pin your lead magnet
Purchase – Pin your shop, calendar, or offer
Three pins a week. That’s it. When your pins are tied to actual business goals, they don’t need to be constant they just need to be clear.
Make Your Blog Work Harder
Pinterest is full of cold traffic. If someone lands on your blog from a pin, you have a tiny window to keep them. That’s why I encouraged Amanda to:
Embed opt-in forms early in the blog post
Add sidebar links or quick “buy now” buttons
Include visuals that match the pin they clicked
You don’t need to redesign your entire site just give people an obvious next step while they’re still warm.
Action Steps to Build Your Funnel on Pinterest
Update your Pinterest display name with searchable keywords
Rename boards using Pinterest’s suggested categories
Use incognito search to validate topics before you create pins
Create one pin per week for your blog, freebie, and offer
Embed opt-ins directly in your blog posts for better conversions
Track results and repeat what’s working
The Final Pin Drop
You don’t need more content. You need a system that connects what you already have to the people who are searching for it.
Pinterest is the only platform where your content gets better with time. When you stop chasing trends and start pinning with intention, it becomes one of the most sustainable tools in your entire funnel.
