The way Pinterest, the fastest growing user base in social media, works is users share pictures and videos by ‘pinning’ them onto their boards. Behind these visuals, there are products while the ‘pinners‘ collect and re-post this images repeatedly.  Pinterest now has opened up promoted pins to everyone. Whether you are a blogger or a small business, they promote you using them to promote yourself in order to flourish and maximize your marketing budget.  With promoted pins available to anyone and everyone, you are competing but with that comes increased traffic and revenue.

How to Work on Promoted Pins

In order to begin to utilize Pinterest’s promoted pins, you have two choices. Cost Per Click (CPC) or an Engagement Campaign.  The Cost Per Click option will charge you per click to your post, but as the user and promoter, you can limit these so that your budget does not suffer. You may end up paying lower than the CPC limit or increase to compete in the promoted pin arena.

Using the Engagement Campaign, you will pay for all kinds of engagement on your pin. You will be charged whenever someone enlarges, repins, or clicks your pin.

Ensure you have picked the ‘right’ pin when using either option. That is one of the trials and errors you will find while promoting pins for your blog or business.

Know Your Audience

Pinterest provides tools to track their core audience.  This gives insight as to what needs changing, revised, or replaced.

For example, you have opened a new jewelry business. You are looking at getting your designs and ideas noticed to start building and growing your business. You would want to use key terms such as jewelry, silver, gold, etc. You would then choose the U.S because it requires a region.  The language choice would also be English, being you chose U.S. as location. Finally, depending on the jewelry you sold, you would choose whether or not you want a male or female audience, or both. These tools are used to reduce your cost per click but also you are able to track the traffic by demographic.

Pinterest is the fastest growing media marketing tool, and with the proper promotion and pin placement, you have increased your business exposure and value with a ‘click’ of a button.
