You are Killing your business when you say this one thing! – Laura Rike

I want to discuss with you the one word you are saying that is hurting your business and why you should stop saying it today!

Hey good morning everyone. I wanted a quick cap on here and talk about something a little bit unique. I do a lot of trainings and I do a lot of how — to videos just to be able to help you guys in your businesses a lot. One of the things that I’ve been going through recently when I talk to people is this one thing that they tell themselves or that they say publicly and you need to stop. I’m going to quick share this into my Facebook group here so give me one second.

If you guys are just joining me please type in the chat, good morning, good morning. Let me know who’s here. Also, if you are new type in new and I would love to introduce myself and get to know you a little bit better. Feel free to also introduce who you are, what your business is, if you’re just stopping by to say hello. I had a guest blogger write a blog about this recently too and I read it and I really liked it.

One of the things I think that resonated with me is the whole mindset. A lot of people don’t think about mindset is hindering your business but you need to and so I am going to go back over here. All right, the one thing you need to stop saying in your business, it’s actually hurting your business, it’s hurting you, it’s hurting your mentality, it’s hurting the way you think about things. As an entrepreneur, you need to stop saying, “It’s hard.”
The blog was written by another business owner here and it’s eight mental habits that will make you miserable. I feel like we touched on this barely but we didn’t say specifically in this blog. You need to stop saying, “It’s hard.” It’s not hard as a business owner. That’s a mentality and the first two sentences she wrote in this blog is the world doesn’t make you miserable, you make yourself miserable.
What are you doing to yourself when you say, “Oh my gosh, this is so hard. I can’t grow my business or I can’t setup email marketing. Or I can’t be everywhere on social media at once or I don’t know how to do this. It’s just so hard.” What are you doing to yourself? You’re setting yourself up for a miserable day. You’re setting yourself up for a miserable month in your business. It may be hard in your eyes but it’s not hard if you put it to action.
Take time to go through a training. Take time to read the emails that you signed up for. Take that time and if you’re passionate about what you’re doing and what you’re trying to achieve and what you’re learning, it’s not hard. It just takes time. It takes perseverance. It takes dedication. That is what a business is about. You need to be dedicated. You can’t sit here and say, “Oh my gosh, I’ve been trying for months. It’s so hard. I can’t grow this business. I don’t know what’s going on.”
That’s not going to get you anywhere. That’s setting yourself up for failure. If you say that out loud in a Facebook group or you say that out loud to a friend nearby or to another business owner at a networking event things like that, what do you think they’re thinking about you? Do they think, “Well yes that’s hard too, I totally get it. I get where you’re coming from?” Or they looking at it and saying, “Well why is it hard? Why is she saying it’s hard? What has here she tried? Why are they at this point in their business where they’re so frustrated they need to out loud say it’s hard?”
It’s not hard you guys. Switch your way of thinking. Switch your way of thinking and say it’s going to take me time but my goal is if it’s something that you don’t understand, don’t say it’s hard or don’t understand it. I don’t know how to do it so I’m not going to. Switch your way of thinking. Say, “Okay, I don’t know this but I know that other people have been growing their business this way. I’m going to take every Monday for the next month and I’m going to focus two hours on X, Y and Z. I’m going to get through this and at the end of this month my goal is-” Thank you Diana.
I’ve seen it so much in Facebook groups lately is, “Hey guys I totally understand where you’re at. I’m at this rut. It’s so hard to grow my business. I don’t know where to start. I don’t know what to do. Does anybody have any suggestions for me?” My suggestion, stop saying it’s hard. Start saying, “I am committed to — my goal is-” and set yourself up for that greatness. Because when you say it’s hard, it’s almost like a little child like my eight-year-old child, “Ma I don’t want to. Mom it’s so hard though. It’s not fun.”
Well for one, my thought is if what you’re doing isn’t fun, is it really your passion? Do you need to go back and look at why you started this business in the first place? Where your goals are, where your morals are. Are they still in alignment with what you want for your company? If not, start there. That’s why it’s hard. You lost your passion and sometimes when you start things, that happens. You lose passion in what you started but you just switch it.
Don’t reinvent a whole new business. Just reinvent how you’re going about it. Switch it so that you actually feel comfortable and feel that passion and that dedication again because if you don’t feel that dedication it’s going to be hard. My thing for you guys today and for the rest of this week and the rest of this month is to please take the challenge and stop saying, “It’s hard.” Start saying “I love it or I’m passionate about it but I don’t understand this so I’m going to — or my goal for this month is going to be this. Can someone help me? Does someone have a training?”
Things like that. Immerse yourself in what you think is hard and I guarantee you once you start getting into it and setting goals and showing that you’re dedicated to it, the “it’s hard” will disappear. It will be, “Oh my gosh, this was so easy. Why didn’t I do this before?” Or “Oh my gosh, this is helping my business so much, I know it’s time consuming and it’s tedious but look at where I’ve come, look at where I’m going.” That is what you guys need to say.
Diana says, “It won’t be easy always. Just know your passion and follow it.” Exactly. Nobody ever said that life is going to be easy. It’s the same thing in business. Nobody ever said, “Hey if you join this company and you start under me, I’m going to help you and I’m going to put all these people underneath you and it’s going to be so easy and you’re going to make all these money.” It’s not true. Nobody said if you start a business doing social media, all these people are going to need your help and they’re going to want you to do X, Y and Z and you’re going to have all these clients and bring in all these money. It’s not true.
It’s not hard. It can be done but you need to be dedicated and you need to be passionate. My challenge for you is for the rest of this week; take note of who says it’s hard and then challenge them, pass it on. Give them a mental thought of how to change it. Don’t be rude to them. Be nice to them. You may have been in that spot once too. Let me tell you. I was in that spot a couple of years ago. I was just very frustrated with where I was but someone came to me and told me that I needed to change my way of thinking.
I don’t think that way anymore. It’s awesome and it definitely truly will help your business. There are, on my blog, eight other mental habits that are making you miserable. Yes that is my challenge. If you are saying “it’s hard”, stop now. If you hear somebody else that’s saying “it’s hard”, give them an opportunity or something to reignite their passion. Find out that it’s really not hard and how they can move from there so that they are not hindering their business with those words. Have a great day you guys.
